Besides thinking about that I've been having a gay old time with my little life. I am freelancing instead of being regularly employed. I'm working on a short film for a class. I have a MILLION 2D design assignments, that are snoring BORING! I have a ceramics class, which I'm FINALLY getting the hang of. It's way harder than it looks... Especially if you are a tense person and impatient. All of which I AM! All of my classes are creatively challenging, which means I am stretched quite thing when it comes to my creative back stock. Ugh. I need lots of naps... and tea.

Lately I have done a lot of reading as well. In the past 2 months I've read "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire", "Hairstyles of the Damned" by Joseph Meno, and "Harry Potter and the Order of the phoenix". I take the bus to school, which means I have an hour to read everyday. It's nice. That helps keep my creative noggin working. But I get obsessed with the books and have to keep reading for HOURS AND HOURS... then I don't get much sleep.

My boyfriend and I are really into the "Firefly" series. After seeing the movie "Serenity" I HAD to see the series. It's fabulous. I love it. Very well done. I like Captain Malcolm Reynolds. Quite titillating character. And Kailey. The crazy psycho "wife" chick Safron reminds me of one of my best friends. I think that is funny because the chick on the show is an antagonist... and I'm rather fond of my friend. I think it's her hair and overall attitude. My friend doesn't manipulate people an get them into emanate danger... but she is cunning.

I am blocked. I have no more creativity. Somehow I got sucked dry. I don't know what did it or who did it. Well, for the sake of those who read my blog... I hope it returns soon. I REALLY hope it returns soon, because I am trying to put out a publication with my writer's group and I need to scribble out a few more things, but I'm dry. Nothing comes out when I hold a pen over blank paper! NOTHING!

I can't babble anymore about this creative blockage. I must shower and sleep so I can get up early and work work work work! But I only have a week and a half at my summer job... and 3-4 weeks at the main job. YAY! Poverty sets in soon! But I shall enjoy my free time. Ya gotta do it every now and then. Once a job starts ruling your life you have to cut it out until you find another job that you can sustain yourself on until it takes over your life to... and so on... and so on!

I'm excited though, because my roommate showed me a secret ninja shortcut home from downtown. Now I don't have to walk up 3 blocks of extreme steep hillage. YAY! Plus, the short cut is going through the courthouse and today I saw two little kids getting escorted into the court. They were shackled at the feet and wrists! I wonder what they did. They were between the ages of 7-12. Babies. Exciting, anyways.

I'm hot and sweaty. I'm sick of working every second and then doing laundry in hour that I have between jobs. :( I want to start school again now. :D School is fun. I learn things and do things and talk to people I want to talk to. I'm more excited this year than I was for past years. I am quitting both my jobs so I will actually have time to do the things college students are supposed to. I am going to work a work-study job, either be a computer lab consultant or the gender issues/women's studies' office assistant. I am also going to do freelance work for the TV station I work at now. I still get to work on the hockey broadcast crew. Yippee. Should be fun. My classes are a lot different than before. I have ceramics (YAY!!!), Development of Creative Functioning, 2D design, Film & Culture, and a senior projecty thingie.
I have the WHOLE day off tomorrow. I have a dentist's appointment. God bless 'em. I like the flouride treatment. Mmm.... strawberry. I want some of those mouth-shaped foam things to make weird art with.

We would save so much time if we didn't have to pee or poop. But then again sometimes I use having to go to the bathroom to take a little breather from life. I did that a bunch in high school. Whenever I was so bored I thought I was going to implode with boredom I'd just run off to the bathroom to think and relax. But sometimes I really hate having to leave what I'm doing. Especially working in customer service. They don't even really think you are human. "You shouldn't have to pee! I need my thunder cookie and mocha dammit!"

Afterbite, overbite, creature of the night

I went camping/hiking/backpacking this weekend. There were 9 of us staying in a cabin in the Porcupine Mountains. It was really fun. I've never hiked so much in my life. Luckily all of my joints held out just fine. BUT my ankels and feet got totally demolished my mosquitos. I am lusting after the afterbite itch eraser stick. I NEED IT! It's mainly just ammonia. Kind of gross to think about putting amonia all over my feet. Ewie. But it stops the itching. I just want to little red bites to go away. It looks like the chicken pox. My roomie is super nice and is going to pick up some afterbite for me from wal-mart. :/ I hate walmart, but I'm desparate enough. He is alreay going there, so it's by default that they are getting my money.

It was really fun to bond with people this wekend. I don't make friends very easily, so it's nice to feel like a part of a group. I like it. I think I unnoticeably shut people out. I have trust issues and abandonment issues. I guess that happens when you're the youngest and all the older siblings leave the home first... leaving me with my mother who worked nights. Alone alone alone. In the words of Peter Gabriel "I reach out from the inside". I love peter gabriel. "I want to be that complete. In your eyes"

Back on track. So I worked a different shift at my coffee shop job. It was strange. It's really dead in the afternoons. This week is sad because Starbucks opened across the street. So we have to get ourselves out there more and do some GOOD advertising. When I walked past starbucks every seat was filled. :( Grrrrrr! I hate them. They are the Wal-mart of coffee. We've been doing a lot more special things to try and attract people. We have live music during our lunch hour. My big bro Scott might come up and play during it. I'm excited! I love when my friends and family can see my life in action instead of just hear about, but be a part of it. :D Yay!

Greasy Hair and Creeping Heat

I just got back from my little vacation in the Porcupine Mountains in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. That was the first time I ever backpacked. It was good times. I got to know people that I sorta knew even better. I don't really make friends easily so it was a nice to feel like I was a part of something. I got some neat photos from the trail. I got a great close up of a froggy who posed very eloquently for me. A giant deer ran across the hiking path and I almost got demolished. "Mandi got ran over by a reindeer"(minus the rein)

2-day weekends aren't long enough. And this weekend I discovered that neither are 3-day weekends. I guess mine isn't really a 3-day weekend because I have to go to work in an hour and a half at one of my jobs, but I didn't have to get up at 6 a.m. this morning to go to the coffee shop job. Tomorrow I work the later shift there so I get to sleep in for once during the week!!!! How extremely exciting!!!

I also discovered this weekend that Little Caesar's do exist still. We ate at one in Ashland, Wisconsin today. :D Mmmm.....

I indeed completed my writer's group contract to finish and polish my story titled "Red". I'm happy with it. It's pretty sarcastic, pervie, and written in an active voice. I intend for it to be printed in our writer's group's first publication coming out at the end of this summer I hope!! We are still trying to pick out a title. We are also hoping to build a little corresponding website. I'm happy that I don't get punished by breaking my contract. Yippeee! No donating plasma for me.

This is my first week working the BIG hours. My posts are going to be a bit sporadic and rambly sounding. My mind is scattered because I work about 50 hours a week now. Love SUMMERS! I making extra dough so I can buy a new car! I can't wait to get one. I'm totally pumped about cutting down hours at the TV station job. It's been wearing on me for a while! Same people, same B.S. It gets old. There's a lot of negative energy and bad attitudes there. I hate that! I just want to be happy! I like my other job better. Plus, I get tips and live musicians play sometimes. It's just a friendlier environment and upper managment gets their hands dirty and treats me like a human and an equal!

I'm really pumped for this weekend! I'm going home to Osceola Wisconsin! I get to catch up with old buds and hot rod around in my mom's new wheels! My sis has a new car too! Wow, ton's of hot rodding. My big bro is playing guitar in a concert thingy. Should be fun. Hope the weather's fab.

A Million Hours, a million hours

Thus marks my first day at the new job. Whew! What a day! I've been quite the working diva this week, despite a horrendous cold and flu bug. Hip hip hooray for perseverance! I started working the 7:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. shift at a coffee shop/deli place located in the business district of Duluth, MN. It's locally owned and all organiicky! I love it. It was super fun today. I really got back into the swing of doing the cash register and greeting everyone. I love shootin' the breeze with random people. That's one thing I really miss while working in TV for so long. I miss the meeting people. I actually MISS customer service. Well, now I am back to it! It's nice to have people be excited for you to get them their coffee. Coffee is especially important to business people. So I am their little breather away from the office. I will be the face they see between number crunching, or selling tuxedos, or doctoring people up. Even though people think of little part time coffee shop jobs as the crap jobs, it actually pays they same as what a lot of people I work with at the TV station are making! Customer service jobs are very important. I met tons of people today. I'm totally pumped about making my first latte today! I love specialty coffee beverages and have always wanted to learn how to make them. Now I shall be a queen barrista! Badda Bing Badda Boom!

So I worked 50 hours this week. Oogah! I'm kinda pooped. Yesterday (Thursday June 9th) I went to MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association) camp for the TV job. I filmed the activities for the upcoming telethon that we put on locally. It was a 3 1/2 hour drive to camp. It was fun though. I went with my graphics supervisor. We yapped the whole way. No problem for us. Gotta catch up on the office gossip! The kids at camp were amazing. It was so fun. I don't usually do photography work for work so it was nice to change up my experiences a bit. I just hope the tapes turn out well. I haven't trapsed through all of the footage yet. I filmed about 1 1/2 hours worth of fun times!

Noodling: fishing using yourself as bait.

So this week on the news I learned that NOODLING is now legal in Missouri. My news station showed footage of people (even kids) catching these GIANT CATFISH with their hands. They hold their arms out like a cradle and the fish chomp on and there you have it-->DINNER. Ick! It's scary looking. Catfish are the grossest fish out there! Western Lake Superior Sanitary District--> They take care of our sewers and crap. So, there's an issue with overflows and backups a lot up here in Duluth. Of course, it is not their fault. Shit happens! So now when we drive past 27th Ave on the freeway it smells like my Dad's butthole. It smells like the worst fart ever! It doesn't help that Storenso paper mill is right up the freeway too. For some reason paper mills always smells like flatulence too. Why? Why does the paper making process fart?

FOR THE RECORD: the sewer overflows do not cause the fecal coliform that ends up in the water's edges when they have to close beaches. The fecal coliform come sfrom the seagulls and other animals. That is why you AREN'T supposed to feed the seagulls when you're in Duluth anymore. Tourist's favorite past time!

A La Dentista

Tomorrow I'm off to the dentist. I broke a small chunk off of one of my back teeth (molars, probably) this weekend. Now I can't stop tonguing the the tooth hole. It reminds me of when I was little and had a loose tooth. It just weeble wobbles in your gums. It was fun to push it back and forth with your tongue. But now I cannot weeble or wobble it because I need that tooth. There are no teeth waiting to push up into its place. What a pity. Why can't I get a second round of new ones?? So, I put my chunck of tooth under my pillow... and the toothfairy did not come! I think the fairies must be on strike... and they haven't trained in the scabs yet. Tragedy.

My dentist's name is Hero DDS. Maybe he'll be dressed like spiderman. One can only hope.
I get to go right to work after my appointment. It might be nice to be numb at work. Hopefully tomorrow will be the only time I have to go. In and out and back to my tip top shape.

Ham and Pork: What the HECK are they?

So, ham and pork both come from a pig. If you roast a pig on a big roast where you tie it's legs on a pole you are making a pork roast... so none of the meat is ham. So where does ham come from? Is it because of the way it's cured? Is it the meat from a certain part of the pig? And I guess I don't really understand bacon much either.

Please help solve the case!

All American Reading Challenge

I was watching the morning show on TV today while eating breakfast in the school snack bar. A commercial came on for the "American Reading Challenge" sponsored by New 6 and McDonalds. If a kid reads 10 books in a month they get a FREE All American kids meal from McDonalds! Wow! "Thanks for reading, now here's your high fat convenience food!" I know that big corporations have been doing things like this for years, but I'm just now realizing how truly corrupting it is. I did "Book It" when I was Elementary School. That was the Pizza hut reading challenge. I remember lying about reading 10 books just so I could get free pizza. So, is this really encouraging the nation's children to read or is it encouraging them to lie in order to eat greasy, fatty food? What kind of imprints do programs like these put on children's lives? Why do the corporations do them? Good PR? Because they really want kids to read?? Hmmm... I think we ALL know the answer to that one!

Sometimes I like my other blog better than this one.... Hmmm.... I don't know why I have to have a million blogs and art sites and journal sites.
I don't really have that much to express! That's a lot of pressure on myself to express!! Sometimes I should just keep my thoughts and talents and ideas ALL TO MYSELF!
But I like the connectivity and feedback from other people. I'm addicted to feedback.

Quick Note:
On the bus yesterday to school there was this larger guy with a funny black beret on in front of me. On the way back from school it was the same exact bus and I unintentionally sat in the same seat... and the guy with the beret was still sitting in the seat ahead of me. Weird time warp! Made my head feel funny!

This is one of my favorite sites. It is like blogging, but with pictures. There are assignments. It's exciting to share pictures and compare and comment. Right now only a few people frequent it and that makes me sad. I like to look at new pictures and see different perspective, but I can't get that if I'm one of the only ones constantly uploading new pics! So this is my shout out to the world to go and join motifoto and let's motivate each other to be creative!

The phrase "In the lymelight" originated in France. Oil lamps and candles were on their way out and they started using Lyme powder. They discovered that Lyme powder produced a very bright, in-your-face light. They used it many of the theatres in the theatre district. This allowed them to be able to hold performances at night.

I'm jumping out of my skin (Not a pretty sight!) with anticipation for this semester to be over! I'm so overwhelmed with everything I've had to go through this semester. I had the HUGEST projects ever. It's amazing what we put ourselves through for an education. Today I didn't eat anything until the very last minute before I caught my bus home. I just had a cup of coffee at 8:00 a.m. That propelled me 'til 2:00 p.m. Also I walked about a mile to and from the bus stop on little food power. I had so much crap to do.

Tomorrow I give a presentation for my 8:30 a.m. Mass Communication Theory class. I'm scared out of my wits. We hodge podged things together these last few weeks. Last minute! It's been scarey. Well, with what we have if we get up there and B.S. our ways through our own little niche topics we can't fail it! We have a giant power point presentation. It looks pretty good. Of course the teacher will grill us on our predictions for the future, but I don't care. I doubt that we'd fail it. So with that said. I shall not worry. I will just get up and talk about what I know and think for the future. No one wanted to do the assignment. No one really wanted to get up and do their presentation. I don't think I've met anyone in my college career who has been like, "Yes! We get to do a gropu project and public presentation! Well, that's just JOLLY JACK SPLENDID!" NEVER have I met someone who has said that.

I will be so elated when that is all over. I had to give another giant presentation in another class this semester. I stuttered my way through it... but we got a good grade. That presenation was worth 50% of our total grade. This one is worth 50 pts/450 pts. Not as much.

A Loss For Words...

It's 8:00 a.m. I am tired. I have weird dreams. Somewhat tormenting. The same person is in them all of the time. Why can't they just leave my subconscious already! Geesh! It's been years since we've been intimate. Funny how we can control our legs, our arms, hands, feet, toes, fingers, mouth with out brains, but for the love of pete we can't control our brains. Even if we try or think we are there are still things going on underneath the surface. I'm not a big fan of that.

I wish there were a way, like on "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" to erase certain memories. I want to erase and build anew.

Everyone has people that fall into that category. How can we avoid doing this to ourselves? For the good of the human race there has to be a way to sniff out these people that will hurt us deeply, torment our fragile spirits. Alas, no matter who it is, they have the power to hurt you. The trick is to just be careful not to hurt anyone else... and maybe karma will help out with the rest. Or maybe karma doesn't exist and we are all doomed. Or maybe God will help out. But maybe God doesn't exist and we;re all doomed. ::Shrug, shrug:: All you can do is just: be good, kind, thoughtful, and smile as often as possible. EVEN if it makes you look mildly retarded or constipated.

I hope this new year I'm starting will turn out to be a good one. It's been a long time since I've had a SUPER AWESOME year. There are always hardships... no avoiding that I guess. It all boils down to the JUST BE GOOD....
